Samantha Clayton is a Toronto based singer/songwriter, weaving a brilliant blend of pop, jazz and folk into each of her compositions. Highly creative, she is a poet, guitarist, movement artist and jazz chanteuse.
Samantha is a self-taught musician who studied voice formally in upstate New York. A bohemian who has travelled the world, she has performed as both singer and dancer throughout North America with highlights including various clubs and festivals such as Lincoln Center, NYC; The Kitchen, NYC; The Deep Listening Space, NY,; Toronto Fringe Festival; Toronto Jazz Festival; The Rex; Lula Lounge; and both The Omega Institute, NY; and The Kripalu Center, MA; as artist-in-residence.
If you like Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian and Paula Cole, you will love Samantha's songwriting and expressive vocals. An artist whose powerful lyrics expose the frailties of the human condition with clarity and compassion. Her stories are timeless and haunting.
Samantha took a hiatus from performing to pursue her BA with a stream in French Studies at York University. She has since returned to music with renewed vigour and has completed her third EP which was recorded in Nashville.
